For those that don't know, my new page is at:
hmoob-phaj-ej.deviantart.com

Submitting this to make a point.  But the mesh here hmoob-phaj-ej.deviantart.com/a… is made by EA, the publishers of Need For Speed series.  well its not made by ea, its by someone in blackbox, but yeah.

Anyway there seems to be an uprise of fake 3D modelers on the interweb lately, well as of the last 2 years and growing.  Which is people that illegally download 3D programs like Cinema 4D, Maya Unlimied(thats like $8000 bucks), 3DS Max, and so on to name a few.  Then they go and download a car model(some people buy them) that is distributed on various websites.  These websites host car models from popular games like from the Need For Speed series and other PC racing games.  These files are obtained by someone cracking(not hacking) into the game files and extracting out the models.

Anyway after that you can pretty much drop it into your desired 3D program and then color it, add whatever materials you want to it, then render it however which way you want to.  Then people upload them on line and take 100% credit for making them or no credit to anyone at all, but anyone viewing it will take it as the submitter that made it.  People doing this is fine, but not taking credit for it, then telling people that they made it later on, such as here, a model from need for speed most wanted/carbon(was it prostreet too?):

read the comments:
!Sinuzar  says "why low poly??? cant you put smooth in there?? i think it would look great" then openGL says "i do it low poly 1st.. then when finalizing, then i add meshsmooth.. lol"

Original model that is ingame can be viewed here:

Right.....anyway I'm sure you guys realize by now that my rant on this wall of rant is about OpenGL:iconopengl:.

Anyway, to further prove that his models are downloaded is that if you look at his meshes, they are all mid-low poly, then after a while, he submits one fantastically HIGH poly model, then after that drops back to low and mid poly models....which people just don't do very often., I'll gladly do a preview the downloaded models and his models side by side if need be.  He said so himself that he doesn't give credits because where he downloaded it from doesn't ask the downloader(him and us and everyone) to give credits to.  But here's the thing, THE MAKER DOESN'T KNOW about the transaction nor did they have any participation in the distribution of their models.  And when you download from these websites, its a simple, click and download.

I mean its not all bad, there is a career path one can take from just rendering other people's models(not stealing, thats not it), but if its not yours, give credits where needed and stop acting like you made it.  Sure he also notes that on some models, he goes and adds things to it, so therefore he believes he can call it his, but if all you do is add a canard or a new set of wheels, thats not saying much.  Look at me with modifying xentek:iconxentek:'s model, I give proper credit always, even though it barely resembles his car now other than the fact that its a 3D replica of a 1996 Spectre R42.

The career path one can take from rendering models is to be a renderer.  A lot of 3D studios that do still images or animations usually always has a separate group of people that do nothing but lighting and rendering, hell some have 2 separate groups of people for those 2 things.  But if you didn't make it, make it known, or you'll get called out by some asshole like me.

Also notice the time of submission from each of his car models that are from games,  The dates are around or near the time of after the release of a certain game.

Last one(s) and then i'll stop:
his Nissan 370z model:
opengl.deviantart.com/art/Niss…
Original ingame model:
www.nfscars.net/showroom/image…

His Nissan GTR(R35):
opengl.deviantart.com/art/Penn…
Original Ingame of NFS:Prostreet:
www.nfscars.net/showroom/image… and www.nfscars.net/showroom/image…

His Camaro isnt his as you can tell by the triangulation in his wheels.

His Corvette(do i really need to go on?)
opengl.deviantart.com/art/Ridg…
Ingame(again NFS:Most Wanted):
www.nfscars.net/showroom/image…

His Reventon, I'm not gonna bother with that one since he already admitted to that one.

All in all, he's a really good(not great) renderer and gundam modeler(are these his too? I don't know, I never bothered checking up on anything else other than cars).  But I just wish he would stop claiming what isn't truly his, its fine to share, but to just take is wrong.

PS. FYI, the bonnets and some spoilers may have different from his model to the originals, but in the game you can swap the bonnets and spoilers with different ones, and same goes with ripping models, you can download the whole file with all parts attached if you want.

I think its better that he took some models to mess about with than if he did nothing at all. The whole intellectual property set-up is a shameful act of greed and cold hearted view on man kind as a source of revenue.
Wonna rip off any of my cars? Go ahead dude, make something interesting with them and pass it on to others :)
